By the end of this program, you will have:

Learn new, empowering perspectives on early motherhood through the lens of matrescence.
Take a critical look at the most common feelings and challenges new moms experience during the postpartum period. These are the things I hear most often in my therapy office!
Distinguish the challenges associated with typical motherhood adjustment from the signs and symptoms of a potential Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD), including Perinatal Anxiety and Perinatal Depression

You’ll leave Module 1 with a deep understanding of all the unspoken complexities that make early motherhood so overwhelming.
Module 2: Early Motherhood + Mental Health
Here’s where it pays to learn from a seasoned psychotherapist (that’s me!) that specializes in postpartum psychology. In this Module, you’ll develop proven tools and techniques to manage the complex thoughts and emotions that can overwhelm any new mom. You will:
Implement an actionable and sustainable Matrescence Wellness Plan to safeguard your mental and emotional wellness throughout this transitional time
Understand the role of scary and anxious thoughts during postpartum; and develop practical and effective strategies to get a grip on them
Learn how to cut through overwhelming emotions so you feel empowered to manage the ups-and-downs of your feelings
Manage super intense emotions, including anxiety, by soothing your nervous system
Module 2 will give you all the tools necessary to nurture your mind, body and heart so that you can leverage the intelligence of your emotions for your benefit rather than be controlled by them.
Module 3: Rediscovering You as a Mom
Motherhood completely transforms your sense of self. Reconciling the “old you” with the “new mother you” can be unexpected and destabilizing — you may feel like you have no clue who or where you are, and no idea how to find her. Module 3 will help you to understand why this identity shift is so profoundly emotional, and help you to come home to yourself. You will:
Analyze our shared cultural meaning as mothers, your personal definition of being a mom, and how these concepts have impacted you
Learn why having a clear identity is important for your emotional wellness
Understand why so many new moms get lost in motherhood
Appreciate how new mothers change in positive ways, and how you can celebrate those changes
Reconnect with yourself with through the wisdom of your emotions

Burning Q’s other new moms asked before jumping into the program:
-
I define “postpartum” as the first two years after having a baby. If you’ve had a new baby in the last two years, you are welcome to join us. Whether that was your first baby or a subsequent baby, you’re in, mama!
-
I totally get it and I’ve been there. There is just not enough time in the day in early motherhood, let alone time for you to do something for yourself. This course is designed so that you can take it at your own pace. The video lessons are dripped weekly, but you can engage with them whenever it works for you. There’s no rush, and nothing to keep up with. Our live coaching calls are “come as you are,” so whether you’re breastfeeding, covered in spit-up, or holding a screaming baby, you are welcome just as you are. And if attending live doesn’t work for you, you’ll get access to the recording so you can watch when you can!
We’re here to help you implement a sustainable, flexible self-care routine that will always be available. We believe it’s imperative for you to make time for self-care, so making time for this course (and asking for support from your family to make it a priority) is just the practice you need to build a strong foundation for personal wellness that will support your motherhood for the rest of your life!
-
No, this course does not provide therapy. Therapy requires a one-to-one contractual relationship with a therapist. While this program was designed by a psychotherapist using psychological concepts and strategies, it is not therapy and is not a replacement for therapy. Think of it as an educational crash course in the psychology of early motherhood.
-
The course is delivered via video lessons from yours truly (me, Elizabeth!). You’ll also receive a workbook with exercises and prompts to complete along with each video lesson, so that the material will be immediately actionable for you and your personal journey.
For each weekly live coaching call, you’ll receive a link to the group’s meeting platform, where you’ll also have access to your priceless community, the cohort of other moms who have also committed to this program.
-
Just a computer! You will receive a workbook with exercises and complementary journal prompts. You can complete the exercises in whatever form you like - in a journal, Google doc, however you like to work.
-
Elizabeth will be available weekly via our live coaching calls and in that capacity will answer questions! She’ll also be engaging throughout the program via our community platform!
I truly cannot wait to guide you over the next 4 weeks…

If you’re a new mom and you are struggling, or you want to use this transition as a moment for self-reflection and growth, you’re in the right place. You owe it to yourself to enroll in this course and get the support you need to embark on this journey of self-discovery with emotional balance and a full heart.
I look forward to guiding you along the way.
