WHO WE SUPPORT

Postpartum + New Parenthood

The early stages of parenthood can be the biggest roller-coaster transition in your life. No one can be fully prepared for the changes to your body (including those hormonal ups-and-downs that just…won’t…stop!!), the identity crisis, the conflicting emotions, and the general upheaval a new baby brings to your life.

Of course, you’re full of love and excitement for your new baby, and you’re likely also feeling some tough things, like anxiety, irritation, overwhelm, sadness, isolation, and panic.  And on top of it, now you’re feeling guilt and shame for having these hard feelings when you now have a beautiful new life to care for.  You’re not alone.  Nearly all new parents experience obsessive or scary thoughts following the birth of a child.

From the more personal existential struggles like identity crises and feelings of overwhelm and disconnection, to the more mundane day-to-day stressors of time management, I support and inspire moms to achieve a self-connected life and have a little more fun while doing the vital job of mothering. Through 1-on-1 services, community events and online content, my moms learn how to connect with and understand themselves across all seasons of motherhood, from pregnancy, to postpartum, and through seasoned mom life, to create meaningful, whole lives that successfully integrate motherhood, marriage, career and beyond.

Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) are among the biggest complications of childbirth.

If you’re just not feeling like yourself, or your instincts are telling you that something is just not right, help is available.  As a therapist with specialized perinatal mental health training, I can help you process and understand your difficult feelings and thoughts, strategize exactly how to feel better, and guide you home to yourself.

Mama, you can and will feel better.

I am a certified Perinatal Mental Health clinician and have completed The Postpartum Stress Center’s premier training, The Art of Holding Perinatal Women in Distress™: Assessment, Treatment, & Advanced Clinical Practice.   I treat issues surrounding perinatal mental health, including infertility-related challenges, pregnancy loss, birth trauma, abortion, and the stress of early parenthood.

I provide assessment, individual therapy and couples counseling for mothers, fathers, and parents, both new and experienced.

“Matrescence” is the process of becoming a mother, the transition into motherhood.

This transition impacts new mothers psychologically, spiritually, physically, emotionally, and hormonally. In Western culture, there are no formal rites of passage to mark motherhood, and little support and education to help mothers understand the changes that are actually quite common as we traverse this new territory.

Finding community, support, and education is a game-changer in riding the waves of matrescence, and can help you understand the complex changes and emotions that you’re experiencing on this special but oh-so-tough journey.
